Attendance Policy

Class attendance is important and a key to your success.  Regular attendance is expected.  Attendance is taken daily.  Attendance will be 10 percent of your grade.  Class starts on time at 12:45pm.  Refer to Academic Progress/Attendance policy for details of and procedures on attendance compliance.

Late Assignments/Make-up Policy

Late assignments will receive minus one letter grade per class it’s late.  For an example an assignment is due on Tuesday and you turn it on Thursday and get an A, you will now receive a B on the assignment.  Make up policy for test is you have next schedule class to make up test.  At 12:50pm the beginning of each class there will be a quiz.  Two lowest quiz scores can be dropped.  There is no makeup policy for quizzes.

Course Description

This is course is designed for students interested in developing beginning computer skills for use at work and transition into college classes.  Students will learn keyboarding and document processing using popular office software.  Students will be allowed to repeat the class one time at instructor’s discretion.

 

Course Objectives

Upon completion of this course the student will ….

  1. Explain the functions of basic computer hardware components

  2. Read independently and collaborate with others to improve technology vocabulary

  3. Use computers for activities related to work, family and/or community

  4. Create, save and print a basic word document

  5. Explore a topic on the internet

  6. Use accessories such as paint and the calculator

  7. Create a spreadsheet and/or graphic presentation program

  8. Be able to use several office software programs.

  9. Work on projects individually and interact, as a team and in small groups
