How to Capture a Screen Shot with Windows OS

  1. Hit the alt+print screen key on your keyboard to create a screen capture of what is displayed on your computer screen. The print screen button is usually located to the right of your standard keyboard above the delete and home keys:

    Note; if you are using a laptop or a keyboard that does not have the ten key pad, your print screen option may be available via one of the function key combinations (for example; Ctrl-F8).

  2. Open your word processing program (Usually Microsoft Word). Hit Control-V or go to the Edit menu and choose paste in order to past the screen capture into your document file.

  3. Save the file with your name and “print screen” in the title.

How to Capture a Screen Shot with Mac OS X

  1. Command-Shift-3: Takes a screenshot of the screen, and saves it as a file on the desktop

  2. Command-Shift-4, then select an area: Takes a screenshot of an area and saves it as a file on the desktop

  3. Open your word processing program (Usually Microsoft Word).  Go to the Edit menu and choose paste in order to past the screen capture into your document file. Alternatively you may choose to insert the image from your desktop.

  4. Save the file with your name and “print screen” in the title.
