RMP Lab

The style of this lab is very similar to the TUTORIALS (not sure Holly's 2525 class has seen these tutorials). However this time you will follow directions to make your own model using paper, colored pens and some small objects (cereal, legos, coins, etc).  

This is a difficult concept and takes practice - PLAN DO DO THIS SEVERAL TIMES until you understand it.  That way you will be ready when I ask you to explain how cells maintain an RMP on the test!

Learning Objectives

• How does the membrane control ion movement?
• Describe how the Na/K pump works - energy source? How many of each ion are moved and in which direction?
• Describe the role of leak channels
• Give a typical value for a cell’s resting membrane potential
