Accessing YVC Starter Template
Templates
Starting in the fall of 2022 quarter, all new Canvas shells will be imported with a basic template. There are several tools incorporated into the template based on universal design standards. Instructors can still import past quarter content into the shell, but the template content will remain.
There are two ways to remove Template content you now want to use.
- Delete any modules you do not want by clicking the three-dot icon on the right of the title bar and then Delete.
- Remember, modules are holding places for the actual content. If you want content deleted completely, go into the tool that houses the content, i.e., Assignments, Discussions, Quizzes, Files, and Pages.
- Access the shell before you import your content. Follow these steps
- Click Settings; at the end of the course menu options.
- On the right side of the screen, locate "Reset Course Content" and follow the directions.
- If you choose this option, it will also remove the College Outcomes assignment. You must reimport that assignment to report course Outcomes at the end of the term.
Using Templates from Canvas Commons
The eLearning Office has provided two basic templates in Canvas Commons.
-
- Basic home page and syllabus only.
- The basic template for beginners with many of the Getting Started resources built into the template. Additional modules include how-to creating assignments, discussions, and other tools within Canvas.
To access these templates, follow these directions.
