Sharing Videos

Video Locations

Videos remain within the course folder where they are originally created. There are several methods for sharing to other classes.

Change the setting to allow anyone with the organization to view your videos (not recommended)
Copy the video from you past quarter folder, within Panopto, to your new quarter folder.
Create a "forever" link for the video (best practice)

Finding Video Folders

Step one, find your video folders.

Log into your Canvas account and then select the course you want to work within
Click on Panopto on the left side menu (see unit one if it is not visible in your left menu)
In the upper right corner are several icons click the black arrow, this will take you out to your Panopto account.

The folder and video views are now open to you on the left of the screen Here you can navigate between your folders and have access to the settings needed to move videos. Pay attention to where you are, the settings to share a video and the entire folder look the same.

Link: this is a link you can share within your modules like any link you share there.

Embed: this the code you need to embed the link, switch to HTML Editor

Who has access: This drop down gives you options to set who you will allow to have access.
Invite People: individual people can be invited here. This is where you can create a "forever" link.

Using an email address that is not associated with a Panopto account (create a gmail account) enter the full address here.
Click the save and invite button, a link will appear connected to the email address. This is the link you can use within any class, and it will copy when you copy the class from one quarter to the next. (Caution: If the folder holding the original video is deleted or the video is moved from that original folder all your links will cease to work. Make sure you protect the folder where your videos are originally recorded.)

This last method is the best for videos that are used from one quarter to the next.
