Unit 6
Creating Peer Reviews in Canvas
Often when students work together to review each other’s work, they can gain valuable insights into a point of view they may not have considered. Setting up Peer Reviews using Google Docs can facilitate this exercise.
Peer Review Setup
1) Set up a new assignment within Canvas, designating the points and due dates.
2) In the Submission drop down list, change to “online”
- Check the “Allow Website URL”; This will allow students to submit their Google Docs URL for review
3) Check the Peer Review box
- Manually vs. Automatically:
- Manually the instructor will select the reviewers for each group
- Automatically will ask how many reviewers you want in each group and randomly select reviewers from the roster
6) Assign Review Date, leave this field blank if you are using the Automatically option. The due date will automatically be assigned.
7) Remember to assign the Due Date field.

- Students will use the same Sharing feature, discussed in the last unit, to share their work back to Canvas.
