Create Gmail Account

Google Docs works best with a Gmail account. The best practice is to keep this account separate from your campus or personal accounts. 

  1. Create Gmail account at: https://accounts.google.com/SignUp Links to an external site.
  2. When you create this account, do not associate it with your other accounts. Keep it completely separate.
  3. Once the account is created, keeping this window open, click a new tab, open Canvas again in the new tab then follow these directions:
    • Far left global menu, click Account
    • Click Profile
    • Under “Ways to Contact” click Add Email Address; here is where you will add the new Gmail account just created
