Understanding Quiz Types & Selecting Quiz Details

Know your options!

Selecting the appropriate type of quiz and getting your quiz details and settings just right is as important as the questions the quiz contains.  Understanding your quiz building options will help you make the best choices for your assessment style.  In Canvas you have the option to create graded or practice (ungraded) quizzes and graded or ungraded surveys.

Consider your entire assessment strategy when deciding how to assess students online.  Is a huge multiple choice exam the best vehicle to communicate student competency?  If yes, go for it, Canvas has you covered!  If not, you might consider using a course project combined with frequent, low-risk practice quizzes that let students readily assess their own learning and get instant feedback on their progress.
