Roster & Analytics Options

Find your students!

In addition to managing the files in your course, you may need to manage your course settings, course roster, and other student options.  Depending on your institution's settings, you may or may not have access to, or control over, all of these things.

To find your students, view your course roster on the People page.  Detailed information about individual student grades, your interactions with each student, the student's access data, and their account details are also accessible through this page.  You can also find a list of your students on the Grades page.

Students are typically added to a course using an SIS import process.  For more information about how students are populated into courses or what permissions instructors have on your campus, please visit your eLearning office.

There are account level, course level, and student level analytics in Canvas.  Analytics show you how your students are interacting with your course and help you evaluate their performance. This information can also provide valuable feedback for identifying at-risk students, helping individual students, how effective your teaching strategies are, and making course modifications and improvements.  Using Analytics, you can access data on student activity, submissions, grades, and student analytics.
