Module 6- Writing Subtest Overview
In the Writing section of the Washington Educator Skills Test—Basic, the knowledge and skills that are tested are those that reflect "Standard English" as used in the United States.
"Standard English" is a version of English that conforms to the conventions of style, usage, and syntax as represented in formal written texts.
This is the form of English that is used by writers in the United States to communicate in textbooks, government documents, magazines, newspapers, and the like.
While there are many varieties of written and spoken English, the academically established set of rules for "Standard English" as used in the United States will be measured by this test.
