The following information is exclusively for Registered Dental Hygienists who have earned an Associate of Applied Science Degree from a CODA Accredited Dental Hygiene Program.
Graduates of Commission on Dental Accreditation (CODA) approved Dental Hygiene programs are eligible to apply or the YVC BAS-DH Bridge Program. A minimum of 85 credits of Dental Hygiene coursework with grades of "C-" (1.7) or above and a cumulative Dental Hygiene Program GPA of 2.5 or above are required.
An individual learning program will be created for each BAS-DH Bridge Program applicant based on individual transcript evaluation.
BAS 402, BAS 403, BAS 404 DH National Board Competencies
10 Credits per course
Submission of Official JCNDE Dental Hygiene National Board Score and YVC Non-Traditional Learning Petition is required
Course Description and Outcomes:
Students earn crosswalk credits for successful completion of the Dental Hygiene National Board Exam. Students demonstrate mastery of Dental Hygiene Program competencies and earn transcripted credits for prior learning.

BASC 301 Evidence Based Clinical Practicum

Course Description and Outcomes:
This course focuses on basic research principles and Information Literacy in support of evidence based clinical healthcare practice. Students appraise the role of research in support of evidence based healthcare and employ Information Literacy in support of evidence based healthcare.
BASC 401 Healthcare Teaching Practicum
Variable Credits 1-10 per course
Course Description and Outcomes:
This course focuses on healthcare teaching methodology and experience. Students demonstrate best practices in healthcare education under the direction of the lead course instructor. Students employ basic educational theories and teaching strategies in healthcare education and demonstrate leadership and cultural competency in healthcare education.
